Job Purpose
The Cashier position at Brights Hardware is focused on providing excellent customer service and ensuring all transactions are processed accurately and efficiently. This role is important in helping grow the business and improve customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet customers as they enter the store
- Follow all cash-up procedures
- Check and receive cash payments
- Process card and EFT payments
- Ring up sales quickly and accurately
- Pack items into shopping bags for customers
- Hand over cash drops to a supervisor
- Complete daily cash-ups
- Be alert for suspicious customer behavior
- Promote and explain products on promotion
- Handle gift cards and customer reward points
- Keep the cashier work area clean and organized
- Assist with stock counts
- Perform other tasks assigned by management
Requirements
- Matric certificate or equivalent qualification
- At least 1 year of cashier experience in a retail environment
- Service excellence training (Brights Induction)
- Clear credit record
- Good communication and customer service skills
- Vigilant and detail-oriented
- Ability to handle high-pressure situations
- Strong numerical ability
- Team player with ability to work independently
- Organized and able to multitask effectively
- Willing to work flexible hours and public holidays
