Safety Specialist – Air Liquide Careers South Africa
Air Liquide is hiring a full-time Safety Specialist in Secunda, South Africa. Join a global leader in gases, technologies, and services for industry and health, and help promote a safe and compliant working environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement and maintain Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) policies and procedures
- Assist HSE and Facility Managers with safety compliance and audits
- Monitor legal compliance with South African safety regulations
- Conduct risk assessments, incident analysis, and safety inspections
- Coordinate HSE training programs for employees and contractors
- Ensure internal and external audits are completed with proper follow-up
- Support operations by ensuring safe work permits and procedures are followed
- Drive a safety-first culture through regular HSE communications and coaching
- Engage in job hazard analysis and pre-startup safety reviews
Required Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in environmental science, occupational safety, or a similar discipline
- BTech in Chemical, Mechanical Engineering, or Safety Management (advantageous)
Preferred Experience
- 7+ years of supervisory experience in the gas or chemical industry (advantageous)
- Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety standards
- Experience with safety audits and compliance monitoring
- Understanding of Safety & Risk management systems
- Maintaining certifications such as FSSC, SAHPRA, and ISO
