About the Role
Reporting directly to the Senior ICT Support, the ICT Support professional plays a key role in ensuring seamless technical operations across campus. You will be responsible for assisting staff, students, and lecturers with hardware and software issues, supporting classrooms and venues, and maintaining essential technology infrastructure. This role combines hands-on technical support, system administration, and problem-solving in a dynamic and innovative education setting. You’ll ensure that all IT systems run smoothly, while providing top-tier customer service to end users.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Desktop Support
- Receive, evaluate, and prioritize logged requests from users needing technical support.
- Log and track incidents in the problem management database, ensuring proper escalation and resolution.
- Recognize, isolate, and resolve user incidents based on service catalog standards, escalating undefined issues to senior staff.
- Provide first-line IT support to students, staff, and lecturers.
Software and Hardware Installations
- Install desktop and laptop computers with approved software and complete setup documentation.
- Set up hardware and peripherals, including monitors, printers, keyboards, and disk drives.
- Provide on-site support for classrooms, events, and training sessions.
- Test ICT equipment regularly to ensure operational efficiency, including PCs, audiovisual systems, phones, and access points.
Information Technology Administration
- Maintain the ICT asset register and equipment tracker, including finance documentation and disposals.
- Administer approved software lists and liaise with service providers on equipment maintenance.
- Ensure storerooms, server rooms, and ICT offices are clean, organized, and meet health and safety standards.
- Train and orient new staff on software and hardware usage.
- Comply fully with POPIA (Protection of Personal Information Act) requirements.

Minimum Education Requirements
- Minimum: Higher Certificate / Occupational Certificate Level 5 (NQF 5) in A+/N+.
- Preferred: Advanced Certificate / Diploma / Occupational Certificate Level 6 (NQF 6) in CCNA1, MCSE, or MCTIP.
Work Experience Requirements
- At least 1 year of experience in ICT or technical support.
- Driver’s license required (especially in areas with limited public transport).
- Willingness to work shifts, attend Open Days, Career Days, and other campus events as required.
