Introduction

Addo Elephant National Park, one of South Africa’s premier wildlife and tourism destinations, is seeking three (3) dedicated and motivated individuals to join their Tourism Department as Room Attendants. These permanent positions offer an opportunity to work in a dynamic environment, supporting the park’s commitment to excellence in hospitality and guest services. The successful candidates will report directly to the Camp Supervisor and play a key role in maintaining the park’s high standards of cleanliness, safety, and guest satisfaction.

Location and Requirements

The roles are based within the Addo Elephant National Park, located in the Eastern Cape. Candidates must provide their own transport and accommodation, as the park does not offer staff housing.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Grade 12 certificate (Std 10) or equivalent.
  • 1–2 years’ experience in housekeeping.
  • At least 1 year experience in the tourism industry.
  • Proficiency in two languages, including English.
  • Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) practices.
  • Time management, planning, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work overtime, weekends, and public holidays as required.
  • Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and proper handling procedures.

Key Responsibilities

As a Room Attendant, you will play a vital role in maintaining the park’s hospitality standards. Your duties will include:

  • Chalet Cleaning: Change bed linen, sweep and mop floors, polish furniture, empty trash containers, and ensure rooms are guest-ready.
  • Public Area Maintenance: Clean ablution blocks, admin offices, and reception areas to uphold high levels of cleanliness and hygiene.
  • Reporting and Inventory: Report inventory shortages, breakages, maintenance faults, lost and found items, and ensure keys are securely managed.
  • Laundry Duties: Assist with washing, drying, and folding linen as needed and conduct monthly stocktakes of linen, cleaning materials, and equipment.
  • OHS Compliance: Maintain high standards of safety and hygiene in line with Occupational Health and Safety guidelines.
  • Visitor and Traffic Control: Help regulate traffic flow and parking within the park.
  • Ad-Hoc Duties: Perform any additional tasks assigned by the supervisor to ensure smooth operations.

Remuneration and Benefits

The remuneration package includes a basic salary according to the Paterson A3 scale, as well as allowances and benefits as specified in SANParks’ HR Tariff Document and Conditions of Service. The park also follows an Employment Equity plan, ensuring fair and transparent hiring practices.
