Job Overview
Join AECI Property Services as an Apprentice Mechanical Fitter and start building your future in engineering. This fixed-term apprenticeship offers hands-on training and practical skills development in a real working environment. The role is based in Umbogintwini, KwaZulu-Natal.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate in the formal Mechanical Fitter training programme
- Attend scheduled training blocks at Shukela Training Centre
- Carry out maintenance and repairs under qualified Artisans’ guidance
- Assist with routine plant maintenance and breakdowns
- Maintain logbook and training records
- Support team members during maintenance activities
- Follow safety, health and environmental procedures
- Use power and hand tools safely and effectively
- Assist with standby maintenance duties in the second year
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 with Mathematics and Physical Science
- N3 certificate (required for Trade Test eligibility)
- Driver’s license is an advantage
- Basic knowledge of process plant operations
- Mechanical experience is beneficial
- Familiarity with power and hand tools preferred
- Must meet health requirements to work in a chemical environment
