Barloworld Equipment is hiring 3 qualified Mechanics for full-time Field Service roles based in Rustenburg, ZA. As a Field Service Mechanic, you will be responsible for maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing earthmoving equipment on customer sites. This role requires a high level of technical expertise and the ability to work independently in the field while ensuring customer satisfaction and adherence to safety standards.
Main Responsibilities:
- Perform regular maintenance and repairs according to manufacturer guidelines.
- Methodically and quickly identify and fix issues with machine systems on earthmoving equipment at customer locations.
- Create detailed customer machine reports, including failure analysis, condition, service history, and inspection reports.
- Show professionalism at all times when representing BWE.
- Work at particular customer locations based on their needs (Man on Hire) when called for.
- Make sure to follow safe work practices while working on machines.
- Ensure the proper implementation and control of Contamination Control Standards.
- Handle and oversee your personal admin tasks, including labor booking, service reports, part returns, and managing expenses.
- Take action to ensure that your work is always up to quality and productivity standards (ISO standards).
Skills, Qualifications, and Professional Experience:
- Holds a qualification in a relevant trade: earthmoving equipment mechanic, diesel mechanic/NQF 3.
- At least 7 years of experience working with earthmoving machines, including a minimum of 5 years with Caterpillar equipment.
- Strong technical skills and knowledge of Caterpillar machines (Caterpillar certification is an added advantage).
- Strong communication and people skills or excellent interpersonal and communication abilities.
- Strong technical writing skills for reports or ability to write clear and concise technical reports.
- Competent in using computer software like SIS, STW & ET and the Microsoft Office package (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams)
- Basic understanding of Caterpillar equipment and products.
- Highly developed problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
- Core knowledge of business and finance principles.
- Maintain good health to meet the company and customer site compliance criteria.
- Have the essential tools required by the BWE standard kit.
- Driver’s License Code B is required.
- Ready to travel on a daily basis.
- Able to work away from home on short notice and for an unspecified time.
- Understanding of warranty systems, policies, and procedures from OEMs and suppliers.
- Required to work at different customer locations on an on-demand basis.
