About the Role

The SHEQ, BCM, Facilities, Fleet and Risk Specialist will execute and maintain health, safety, environmental, and quality (HSEQ) plans to ensure a safe and compliant workplace. This multifaceted role encompasses responsibility for business continuity management (BCM), facilities maintenance, fleet management, and operational risk reduction. You will work closely with site and facility managers to uphold international safety standards and optimize business performance across all operational areas.

As a key member of the regional leadership team, you’ll ensure compliance with internal DHL standards and global regulations such as ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 22001, and ISO 9001. You’ll also play a crucial role in fostering a culture of safety awareness, risk management, and continuous improvement across the Cape Town site.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain Minimum Safety Standards (MSS) at 100% compliance.
  • Manage and maintain ISO certifications: 14001, 45001, 22001, and 9001.
  • Implement and maintain all Quality Management System (QMS) documentation, including manuals, SOPs, and work instructions.
  • Oversee supplier management for pest control, cleaning, and temperature monitoring services.
  • Ensure full compliance with client quality standards, such as Heineken Quality Standards (DLQM/TSS and QMART).
  • Investigate and report safety incidents using DHL’s LOGICS platform within 48 hours.
  • Lead CAPA, change control, supplier management, and training programs to meet Good Warehousing Practices (GWP).
  • Conduct safety inspections, audits, and incident investigations; propose corrective and preventive measures.
  • Support facility management activities, including maintenance cost control and supplier coordination.
  • Deliver SHEQ induction and safety training for new employees, contractors, and visitors.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Matric / Grade 12 is essential.
  • IOSH Managing Safely or equivalent certification.
  • SAMTRAC, NEBOSH, or NOSA qualification preferred.
  • Strong understanding of ISO and GWP compliance requirements.
  • Basic technical knowledge of warehouse systems and safety laws.
  • Experience in managing SHEQ, facilities, or fleet operations within a logistics or manufacturing environment.
  • Proactive, goal-oriented, and capable of making quick, practical decisions in collaboration with management teams.

Candidates should have excellent communication skills, fluency in English, and strong analytical abilities. The role requires someone who can balance operational efficiency with a deep commitment to safety and compliance.
