Job Summary
Safripol Sasolburg is seeking an experienced Mechanical Fitter to maintain and optimize production plant equipment. The successful candidate will ensure consistent product quality, maximize plant reliability, and execute maintenance tasks safely, efficiently, and effectively according to job package specifications. This role requires technical expertise, proactive problem-solving, and teamwork within an empowered maintenance team.
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 with Mathematics and Science (NQF Level 4).
- Trade test certification (proof of certification mandatory).
- Minimum 5 years post-trade test experience in an industrial environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills, technical capability, initiative, and assertiveness.
- Computer literate with knowledge of Maintenance Management Information Systems (SAP or similar).
- Understanding of work management processes and relevant KPIs.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Review job packages to ensure tasks can be safely executed according to specifications.
- Obtain work permits and execute maintenance tasks.
- Investigate additional problems that arise during maintenance and recommend corrective work orders.
- Return equipment to operations after completion of maintenance work.
- Assist in root cause analysis to ensure problems are permanently resolved.
- Update Maintenance Management Systems and engineering records.
- Apply trade skills and mentor apprentices or other maintenance associates.
- Assist in developing maintenance work procedures and follow the Maintenance Work Process.
- Document work history, provide feedback on job quality, and contribute to continuous improvement.
