About the Role
The Judge’s Secretary will provide comprehensive administrative and secretarial support to a judge. The position requires a high degree of accuracy, discretion, and organizational skills.
- Provide general secretarial and administrative duties to the judge.
- Type and format draft memoranda, decisions, opinions, and judgment entries.
- Manage correspondence, judgments, and orders, including dictaphone typing.
- Arrange and diarise appointments, meetings, and official visits.
- Make travel and accommodation arrangements.
- Maintain and safeguard all case files; update files with orders made by the judge.
- Perform digital recording of urgent court proceedings and ensure recording integrity.
- Accompany the judge to court and manage the judge’s vehicle and logbook.
- Compile reports, expense statements, and case documents as required.
- Arrange refreshments and attend to the judge’s library and documentation.
- Execute legal research as directed and comply with all departmental policies.
