About the Role
The Mine Overseer (D2) manages the South Shaft section, ensuring operational efficiency, safety, and compliance. The role oversees drilling and blasting, production targets, and staff development, reporting to the Section Manager.
- Plan and manage section operations to meet production targets
- Implement and enforce health, safety, environmental, and quality systems
- Contribute to departmental budget planning and monitor expenditures
- Oversee mining logistics, equipment, and personnel for day and night shifts
- Supervise drilling and blasting activities, ensuring correct parameters and safety compliance
- Maintain internal and external stakeholder relationships
- Coach, develop, and evaluate performance of subordinates
- Drive functional and departmental change initiatives to improve productivity and reduce costs
- Ensure statutory compliance including mining charters and B-BBEE procurement targets

- Valid Code 08 (B) Driver’s Licence
- Advantageous: B-Tech/Degree in Mining Engineering
- Advantageous: Mine Manager’s Certificate and Supervisory Certificate
- 5 years underground trackless mining experience with at least 2 years supervisory
- Exposure to night shift and acting/relieving Mine Overseer roles advantageous
- Ability to work permanent night shift as Mine Overseer advantageous
- Strong operational, financial, and safety management skills
- Experience in staff mentoring, performance management, and team development
