Job Overview

Join AECI Property Services as an Apprentice Mechanical Fitter and start building your future in engineering. This fixed-term apprenticeship offers hands-on training and practical skills development in a real working environment. The role is based in Umbogintwini, KwaZulu-Natal.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in the formal Mechanical Fitter training programme
  • Attend scheduled training blocks at Shukela Training Centre
  • Carry out maintenance and repairs under qualified Artisans’ guidance
  • Assist with routine plant maintenance and breakdowns
  • Maintain logbook and training records
  • Support team members during maintenance activities
  • Follow safety, health and environmental procedures
  • Use power and hand tools safely and effectively
  • Assist with standby maintenance duties in the second year

Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12 with Mathematics and Physical Science
  • N3 certificate (required for Trade Test eligibility)
  • Driver’s license is an advantage
  • Basic knowledge of process plant operations
  • Mechanical experience is beneficial
  • Familiarity with power and hand tools preferred
  • Must meet health requirements to work in a chemical environment
