Job Overview
The Artisan Assistant will support electrical, mechanical, and electronic system operations at the plant. The role includes installation, maintenance, and commissioning tasks, as well as site and infrastructure maintenance.
Requirements
- Grade 12 or NQF Level 4 Equivalent
- N3 Certificate or equivalent qualification in millwright career path
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a millwright assistant
- Experience in a production or FMCG environment is an advantage
- Code B Driving License
- Knowledge in boilermaker and welding is a plus
- Microsoft Office skills
- Physically fit and able to work independently and under pressure
Duties and Responsibilities
- Daily job planning meetings attendance
- Install, test, maintain and repair mechanical and electrical systems
- Conduct preventative maintenance tasks
- Diagnose faults on pumps, gearboxes, motors, and hydraulic systems
- Maintain building structures, plumbing, and infrastructure
- Ensure compliance with SANS 10412 standards
- Maintain clean and safe work environment
- Support refurbishments and machine upgrades
- Order and manage spare parts
- Lead maintenance team in manager’s absence
- Participate in after-hours breakdown support and seasonal standby
- Assist and mentor millwright assistants and apprentices

- Diagnostic and time management skills
