Job Description

AECI is offering a learnership opportunity for a dedicated and safety-conscious Assistant Boiler Operator Learner. The position is based in Umbogintwini, KwaZulu-Natal.

Responsibilities:

  • Follow safety procedures and ensure proper boiler operation.
  • Maintain and clean boiler systems and related equipment.
  • Assist and work under the supervision of Senior Boiler Operators.
  • Monitor and report on product storage tank conditions.
  • Load and offload sodium and chemicals as needed.
  • Attend and complete the required formal training (Shukela Training Centre).
  • Keep training records updated and available when requested.
  • Follow Health, Safety, and Environmental procedures at all times.
  • Be available to work rotational shifts after the 3-month probation period if competent.

Requirements:

  • Science and Maths in Matric/Grade 12 or its NQF equivalent.
  • A valid driver’s license is an added advantage.
  • Basic knowledge of process plant operations and maintenance importance.
  • Medical fitness to work in a chemical environment.
  • Interest in boiler operations and willingness to learn.
  • Able to use basic hand tools.
  • physically capable and at ease working in tight spaces and at heights.
