Minimum Entry Requirements:

A completed National Senior Certificate or an equivalent qualification with passing grades in:
  • Technical Mathematics/Mathematics: A strong foundation in math is crucial for understanding calculations related to fire safety and equipment.
  • English/Business English: Proficiency in English is important for communication and understanding safety protocols and procedures.
  • Technical/Physical Science (preferred): Knowledge of scientific principles aids in comprehending fire behavior and safety measures.
  • Code B Driver's License: A valid driver's license allows for mobility and operation of fire response vehicles.
  • Ability to pass stress and fear assessments (heights, confined spaces, and fire exposure): Resilience in high-pressure situations is vital for safety in emergency response.
  • Pass the firefighter fitness assessment: Physical fitness is essential to perform demanding tasks required in firefighting and rescue operations.

Key Components:

Engage in the learnership program and successfully finish the assessment process. Take part in all necessary workplace readiness activities and training exercises.
