The Mechanical Assistant will:
- Do small mechanical repairs
- Carry tools
- Clean the workshop
- Check machines and report any safety problems to the Supervisor or Artisan.
Minimum Entry Requirements:
- You need to have a Grade 12 certificate or an N3 qualification in Mechanical Engineering.
- Having an N6 qualification in Mechanical Engineering is a plus.
- You should know about mechanical tools and equipment.
- You should be able to perform small mechanical repairs.
- A Mechanical Trade Test certification is a plus.
- You should understand OSHA guidelines and safe working procedures.
Main Responsibilities:
- Carrying hand tools safely and efficiently.
- Cleaning the workshop and work areas after finishing the job.
- Helping with simple mechanical repairs on production machines.
- Performing mechanical inspections at plants and pump stations and reporting any safety issues to the supervisor.
- Helping to make sure health and safety rules are followed.

Job Description Overview:
Minimum Entry Requirements:
- Grade 12 or something similar.
- Skilled in using MS Word and MS Excel.
- 2 years of experience in maintenance planning systems.
- Basic knowledge and experience in administrative tasks.
- Familiarity with Maximo.
- A valid EB driver's license and the ability to pass the Rand Water K53 driving test.
Main Responsibilities:
- Keeping management information up to date by creating, processing, and issuing job cards.
- Filling in as Maintenance Planner when needed.
- Logging and filing departmental time sheets.
- Handling all work requests and updates, and then forwarding them to the Maintenance System Configurator.
- General administrative tasks like typing, filing, and taking minutes.
Understanding or expertise:

As a Mechanical Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Mechanical Technician and Artisan with tasks such as performing minor repairs, carrying tools, and ensuring the workshop remains clean and organized. Your responsibilities will also include conducting mechanical inspections at plants and pump stations, helping to uphold safety standards in the workplace.
