Job Description:
This apprenticeship offers you the chance to gain practical experience and work under the guidance of a qualified technician. You’ll be involved in the repair of vehicles while fulfilling the MerSETA requirements and mastering level tests to qualify as a skilled automotive technician within 4 years.
Key Responsibilities:
- Attend technical training courses: Gain knowledge and hands-on experience in vehicle repairs under the supervision of an experienced technician.
- Assist with vehicle repairs: Work on real-world car repairs while learning on the job.
- Prepare for level tests: Ensure that you pass all required tests to qualify as a motor mechanic.
- Housekeeping: Keep tools and work areas clean, organized, and ready for use.
- Follow safety protocols: Adhere to all safety rules and workplace conduct to ensure a safe working environment.
- Additional tasks: Perform any reasonable duties as required from time to time.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Grade 12 (Matric): Subjects should include Pure Maths and Physical Science with a minimum pass mark of 50%.
- Driver's license: You must have a current, unendorsed driver's license.
- Clear criminal record: Must have a clean record.
- Mechanical insight and technical aptitude: Previous experience or skills in this area is a plus but not mandatory.
Skills and Personal Attributes:
- Diagnostic skills: Able to use diagnostic equipment/computers to access repair information.
- Physical fitness: Ability to perform heavy work and manage tasks associated with vehicle repairs.
- Problem-solving skills: Strong troubleshooting and fault-finding abilities.
