We are offering a Learner Instrument Technician (External) position, which is an excellent opportunity for candidates to gain practical skills and theoretical knowledge in instrumentation and process control systems. This learnership program will help successful candidates acquire the necessary skills and qualifications, including an Instrument Mechanician trade test certificate.
Purpose of the Job:
The purpose of this role is to provide an opportunity for candidates to participate in the Learner Instrument Technician learnership program. By the end of the 42-month program, successful candidates will have acquired the skills required by Instrument Technicians and will have completed their Instrument Mechanician trade test.
Minimum Qualifications & Requirements:
- Completed N6 or S4 or National Diploma in Electrical Engineering (Light Current), with specialization in Instrumentation and Process Control (essential).
- Theoretical knowledge of process control systems, piping, and instrumentation diagrams.
- Strong skills in calculation, problem-solving, analysis, and computer literacy.
- Medically fit for both the PMR and BMR plants at the Refineries.
Training Programme & Responsibilities:
The 42-month learnership program will conclude with a trade test. This program will be conducted under the guidance of the Mining Qualification Authority (MQA). During the learnership, the incumbent will gain a strong understanding of plant instrumentation, PLC programming, SCADA, and setting up networks. The goal is to ensure plant availability and optimize system control to help operations meet production targets.
