Job Purpose
The Department of Social Development is looking for 37 qualified Social Auxiliary Workers to support social workers in promoting social well-being, solving problems in human relationships, and empowering individuals to live better lives. As a Social Auxiliary Worker, you will assist social workers with the care, support, protection, and development of vulnerable groups and individuals. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain experience in the social welfare sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide assistance to social workers with social services aimed at improving the lives of individuals, families, and communities.
- Assist in dealing with social issues and instability, supporting social workers in their tasks.
- Provide administrative support and ensure accurate record-keeping and reporting.
- Participate in continuous professional development.
Minimum Requirements
Candidates must fulfil the following requirements in order to apply for this position:
- Grade 10 completion and the successful completion of a learnership program for registration with the South African Council for Social Service Professions (SACSSP).
- Registration with SACSSP as a Social Auxiliary Worker.
- A valid code B driving license is required.
- No experience necessary, but the passion for helping others is essential.
Skills and Competencies
The ideal candidate should possess:
- A basic understanding of human behavior and social issues.
- Knowledge of the South African social welfare context, including policies and laws that impact social work.
- Good communication skills (both written and verbal).
- Strong computer literacy and ability to manage information effectively.
- Organizational skills, problem-solving, and client orientation are highly valued.
Remuneration
Grade 1: R 192,972 – R 218,409 per annum
Grade 2: R 227,292 – R 259,368 per annum
Grade 3: R 270,009 – R 339,439 per annum
Note: The salary is inclusive of benefits like medical assistance, housing support, and pension fund contributions.
