Job Overview
Gold One Group Limited is hiring a Safety Officer Engineering at their Brakpan operation in Gauteng. This is a permanent role in the mining and metals industry. Ideal for professionals with strong SHEQ, engineering, and trackless mining experience.
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 11 or equivalent qualification
- Engineering Trade Certificate
- Engineering Supervisor Certificate (advantageous)
- 5 years' experience as a Safety Officer
- Trackless mining experience (advantageous)
- Computer literacy with emphasis on Excel
- Strong report writing skills
- COMSOC I & II or SAMTRAC certification
- Experience in SHE system implementation and auditing
- Knowledge of MHSA, mine standards, OHSAS 18001, ISO 14001
- Knowledge in incident investigation and auditing
- Experience in baseline risk assessments and risk management
- Valid driver's license
- South African citizenship
- Clear criminal record
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct Health and Safety audits and implement corrective actions
- Identify and evaluate hazardous conditions and unsafe practices
- Develop and implement hazard control programs
- Measure effectiveness of safety control measures
- Investigate incidents and report deficiencies
- Lead SHE meetings and training sessions
- Ensure compliance with SHE standards and mine regulations
- Communicate safety procedures to all stakeholders
- Perform general health and safety duties across the mine
