RCL FOODS is committed to nourishing lives, communities, and the future with a vision that goes beyond business. We are currently looking for a qualified and motivated individual to join our team as a Safety Officer in the Sugar Division based in Malelane.
Purpose of the Role
The Safety Officer will advise management on all legal requirements related to Occupational Health, Safety, and Environment, while maintaining the NOSA integrated safety system.
Minimum Requirements
- National Diploma in Safety Management or equivalent in Occupational Health and Safety.
- Technical trade certificate will be an advantage.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in SHE within a heavy or medium engineering environment.
- Experience with NOSA, ISO 45001, and ISO 14001 systems.
- Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Facilitation and coaching skills.
- Knowledge of risk assessment methodology and fire protection techniques.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Willingness to relocate within 30 km of Malelane Mill.
- Must be a South African citizen.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement and monitor Corporate SHE policies, standards, and procedures.
- Advise and close out incident investigations, ensuring prevention measures are effective.
- Maintain all legal appointment records.
- Lead a team of SHE support staff.
- Manage accident prevention through NOSA systems with management.
- Identify and organize required SHE training for staff.
- Coordinate fire team training and SHE inductions for all employees and contractors.
- Maintain current risk assessments and conduct regular audits using NOSA principles.
- Support awareness and understanding of SHEQ policies and practices across the business.
