Positional Intention:
- A Trainee Train Assistant will go through training modules and hands-on practice to learn the skills needed. They must complete these courses to become qualified and certified as a Train Assistant.
Placements of Outputs:
- Attend and finish the theoretical training program on time.
- Learn through formal training to become skilled at working in an operational environment and using assigned equipment.
- Complete work tasks safely and efficiently, following the Training Program and the company's goals and vision.
- Keep detailed records of all theoretical and practical training experiences to help with your progress.
- Carry out the trainee Train Assistant duties as required by Transnet Freight Rail (TFR).
Experience and Qualifications:
- Must have completed Grade 12 with pure Mathematics and/or Physical Science training.
- Be ready to complete both theoretical and practical Train Assistant duties to earn your certification and work independently.
- Be ready to have regular health checks and safety assessments during the hiring process and every year after that.
- You must pass medical tests to check your hearing, vision, mental health, and physical fitness.
- Employees under 21 years old are not allowed to work as train drivers or in train control positions.
(SANS 3000, par 6.2.6.8) Here are the minimum requirements for trainees:
- The candidate must be at least 1.6 meters tall.
- Candidates will need to have their psychomotor skills evaluated using the Vienna Testing System (VTS) standards.
- Needs to have the ability to lift and move big things.
