Required Educational Background:
- Matric Certificate (Grade 12) with Pure Mathematics or Math Literacy.
- Valid Trade Test Qualification.
- Driver’s Licence: Code 08 (B) is needed.
- TMM Certification for 'A' Dover or TMM 'A' Dover Operating License.
- N2 Certificate is a plus.
EXPERIENCE Needed However, this may involve, but is not restricted to:
- Minimum of 2 years’ practical experience as a qualified millwright in a mining, plant, or heavy industrial setting.
- Desirable: 1 year of experience in PLC systems.
RESPONSIBILITIES (such as but not limited to):
- Maintain and repair mechanical parts, components, and electrical equipment, including both low and high voltage, safely.
- Maintain a clean workshop and working environment while helping to ensure smooth operational functioning.
- Conduct regular plant inspections, respond to electrical and mechanical failures, diagnose issues, and maintain or repair both low- and high-level mechanical and electrical systems.
- Join improvement teams and projects, actively identify risks and threats to the process, and ensure any operational risks or threats are reported.
- Finalize breakdown work orders, create notifications for work orders, handle maintenance administration in the relevant system, and compile reports for shifts/work orders.
- Be available for standby duties as necessary.
- Guarantee that engineering construction follows the required standards, procedures, and specifications, minimizes wastage, resolves commissioning deficiencies, and adheres to lock-out procedures.
- Make sure electrical testing follows the required standards and procedures and that proper PPE is worn.
- Perform mini-risk assessments and enforce lock-out procedures in your work area and scope of responsibility.
- Ensure tools and equipment are cleaned after each use and stored according to labels in the storeroom. Keep your personal toolbox in safe, working condition. Regularly inspect all equipment to identify defects early and fix them to avoid breakdowns, damage, injuries, and delays. Plan, order, and collect necessary parts to minimize production interruptions caused by equipment failures. Maintain equipment proactively and schedule servicing to ensure reliability and availability. Respond to breakdowns immediately to restore functionality, and report them to the Chargehand/Foreman and Control Room. Inform the supervisor of equipment that cannot be repaired.
